It’s high blue book, but not as high as some dealer listings with more miles. So we’ll see. My friend says, “You can always lower the price, but you can never raise it.”

What kills me is that it’s really a great car and drives beautifully and I only have about $3800 in it — would be $2800 but transmission — and I hate to part with it. What else would $3800 buy me? But with Rusty the Vandura, I now own five cars. So Mrs. O.C. says, keep it if I can’t get a crack price for it. Or at least a good price...

Thoughts? Sympathies?

In our area, running, driving, perfect condition, with less than 100K miles and 5 years? Totally nice price. Having searched for cars with exactly these criteria for other people for the past few years has jaded me to the Bay Area used car market, especially the sub-$10K category. Unfortunately none of my friends are car shopping right now, this would be perfect for them but everyone’s currently leaving for college.

It’s too good for craigs list. The ad is readable English, & have multiple clean pictures from good angles.

Is the driver door really that mismatched?

I agree it could be NP but I don’t see it garnering overwhelming interest on account of it being a not-super sought after model. $7500 seems high for people to be browsing by price, and I can’t see too many people searching specifically for a Versa. 2012 with 30k miles is really low, though.

Word of mouth will definitely be your friend.

I know, right? It’s the kind of ad that would attract me as a buyer. And sadly, that doesn’t deter scammer losers.

Yeah. All of that and yes, crappy paint job from the factory. What I am hoping will grab folks’ attention is the mileage.

If gas cost more there might be a higher demand for fuel saver like this soon. But then again I have no actual idea

Wow that’s wild. And do you know why it needed an engine and transmission so early?

This seems like a reasonable asking price. I’d pay $5-6k for it. Asking high leaves room to negotiate down and get the buyer to think he/she’s getting a good deal while still making you some money if you can sell if for over 6. But it isn’t so high that nobody will even ask about it.

Never changed the oil in the engine. Not sure about the trans.

My hope. I hope the mileage will get folks’ attention. It’s high Blue Book, but I think, not Crack Price.

I don’t think it is CP. Pricing these economy cars is always hard, because they are so cheap new that there isn’t much wiggle room to play with between beaters and CPO’s. A quick search shows dealers advertising certified Versa’s with warranties for $8500-9500. That’s the main competition. So you need to be enough below that to get people that either are OK saving the money to not have a dealer warranty or can’t quite reach up to that price. (LKQ warranty should help sell, but it’s not worth the same to a buyer as a factory/dealer warranty.) But you can’t go so low that you take a bath. I think you’re right there. Like you said, you can always come down a bit if you don’t get any bites.
